Penny was such a lovable and quirky character she is basically Hermione in an alternate universe. I really loved the relationship between Simon and Baz, I 100% ship that all day. Simon complained too much and Agatha felt almost pointless to the story. I felt like they were the most developed characters in the book Simon and Agatha both just annoyed me. This bothered me because I didn’t feel like I could completely connect with the characters because I was meeting them at the end of their journey.ĭespite not being able to connect with the characters as much, especially Simon and Agatha, I still really enjoyed Penny and Baz. A lot of important and key events happen and it’s not even written about, since we are meeting all of the characters in this book in their seventh year at Watford (which is their graduating year), it’s just referred to in context. A few things were a bit confusing to me and I learned that this book is technically one of the later books in the “Simon Snow” series. While the first few hundred pages dragged a bit, it quickly picked up and things got under way. I’m pretty sure I gained ten pounds just from reading this book. The first 200 or so pages of the book dragged on there was lots of talk about food and eating and I found myself constantly hungry and snacking every time I read this book.

It’s a love story, ghost story and murder mystery all wrapped into one novel with hardcore Harry Potter vibes, so if you’re a fan of The Boy Who Lived you’ll definitely love Carry On. This four part novel is a clever and witty story of the worst Chosen One who’s ever been Chosen, Simon Snow. Today’s book review is on Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.
